Until we entered medical school, studied medicine, graduated, and completed internships and residency training in a university hospital, the stereotyped image of doctors-the image we imagined from childhood to examine and treat patients who came for medical treatment due to physical illnesses has been deeply imprinted in our minds.

However, today, more than 20 years later, we are engaged in aesthetic medicine in the heart of Jiangnan District. While we sometimes feel that we are far removed from the image of traditional doctors, who usually treat critically ill patients in universities or large general hospitals and work on incurable diseases, we realize that aesthetic medicine has undoubtedly become a legitimate medical field.

We have also come to understand that many people here suffer from physical and mental illnesses, even if they do not suffer from the diseases common in medical school textbooks. In a sense, more accurately, more patients suffer from mental pain and discomfort than those suffer from physical illnesses. However, just as the World Health Organization defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social tranquility, not just the absence of disease or infirmity," achieving true health requires not only the pursuit of physical health, but also the pursuit of psychological and social health.

From this perspective, aesthetic medicine plays an important role in achieving this overall health.
